Sumner Redcliffs Anglican Church

The Millers By Andy Miller, Mission Partner to Costa Rica.

Andy works for an organisation COMIBAM.

They focus on four areas; Mobilising, Training, Sending and Field. Andy’s role is overseeing the area of Mobilisation for Central America, helping Whole Church movements discover, develop and be deployed in the Global mission of God.

Andy partnered in translating a book called “A Handbook for Mobilising Mission Movements” (available on kindle and Amazon).

His aim was to facilitate a community of like minded leaders of churches and missionary movements. An answer to prayer came from a friend Pastor Rodolfo Rodas. Together they launched a 12 week course via Zoom in July 2023 gathering key leaders from seven Central American countries.

Andy praises the Spirit of  God, “for putting the right people at the right time with the right plans before Him”.

Recently Andy went to Guatemala, where he connected with Paul Somerville from Empower Ministries and Pastor Josúe Oses, President of COMIBAM Mission network in Central America.

During his time in Guatemala, he also took part in Church on the Street Ministry “Aūnestamos Vivos” (We are still alive). A ministry founded in 2013 by his friend Taty and her father, bringing the word of God and worshipping to the Streets. Honouring and loving the “ Least” in a beautiful way.

One such story he shared was about Angel.

“Angel murdered someone for the first time at the age of 10 and he was a contract killer until he was 16 when he met this ministry: today he is 31… still lives on the street… hasn’t beaten his addiction, but doesn’t do glue for a day before coming to church or going to help with prison visits….  but he shared a simple gospel message with everyone he meets. Making a paper cross whilst sharing the good news of Jesus”.

“Today really puts a lot of life in perspective.”

“This is Angel with us .

Paul Somerville from Empower Ministries , and Ps.Josué Oses the president of the COMIBAM mission network for Central America. Josue is my closest co-worker and will take over my role as mobilization coordinator for COMIBAM in Central America when his term as president is over in April 2025.

Coming alongside many ministries and making strategic alliances has been a key part of my role over the past 7 years - this is a dream come true - a long term strategic Alliance between Empower ministry from New Zealand and ministries working with the most vulnerable in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador …

We return to New Zealand knowing that this relationship is established now with or without our involvement!!!”

Please hold Andy, Shona and Elias in prayer as they look to return to New Zealand and for a school placement in Christchurch, for Elias. Pray for their daughters Aliana and Jeshaiah - both studying overseas.
