We take the safety and wellbeing of our young people incredibly seriously at SumRed. All our key youth and children’s ministry volunteers are regularly police checked. We have also appointed a Children’s and Young Person’s Safety Officer (CYPSO) who is an active member of our Parish Vestry & oversees our CYPS team.
Our current CYPSO is Hazel. Not only is Hazel discreet and easily approachable, she also has experience working with children within a professional environment. There are a number of posters displayed around the church grounds providing information for how to contact the Parish CYPSO, CYPS team and/or someone outside of the Parish if you or a young person experience, or suspect, abuse to be taking place. On top of this, you can also use the form below as an easy way to report a concern to both Hazel & the Christchurch Diocesan Safety Team. All submissions are treated in a confidential and professional manner.
Our creche is a space where parents/caregivers of babies and toddlers can let their children just be themselves while the adults stay engaged in the service. We genuinely love having children in our services and don’t mind the noise – in fact our Vicar, Rev. Harry, encourages it!
Jellybeans is a fun, exciting, welcoming place for tamariki aged 3-5 to play and learn about who God is and how much he loves them. At a typical session we hear stories, sing songs, and create art and crafts. Held during our 1030am service at Nayland St Chapel.
Break is a vibrant Bible based programme for tamariki aged 5-10. We play games and learn about Jesus through stories told in age-appropriate ways. There is a strong emphasis on exploring the real life situations that kids experience and how God is present in them. Held during our 1030am service at Nayland St Chapel.
Jesus hung out with his friends; he learnt, he taught, he laughed, he smiled. At Groms, we aim to live a lifestyle like Jesus did...and have fun as a family while on the adventure. Groms is for school years 7-9 and is held during our 1030am service at Nayland St Chapel.
Here at SumRed we believe that following Jesus makes life better and makes us better at life. But we also know that sometimes it can be lonely following the way of Jesus. The thing is: we weren’t made to follow Jesus in isolation. We were made to do it together.
Home Groups are an awesome way to make new friends, go deeper in faith, be enriched spiritually, find a safe space to ask hard questions & take your next steps in your faith journey.
